Thursday, October 18 - Rain Barrel Lesson
5 p.m., at the Museum
The Spa Creek Conservancy, in partnership with the Annapolis Environmental Commission and the Back Creek Conservancy, will present a hands-on Rain Barrel Lesson to teach home owners how they can make a difference in the health of the Bay by installing rain barrels on their downspouts. Rain barrels radically reduce storm-water run-off from roofs, collecting rainwater that can be recycled to water gardens and lawns, filtering it before it returns to the creeks and Bay. The program will be presented as part of a “Green Drinks” reception. Green Drinks is an organic, self-organizing network that brings together people with a passion for the environment and concern for the Chesapeake Bay. The program is sponsored by the Museum and the Eastport Civic Association. Refreshments will be served.
December 1 - Grand Ole Osprey, An Evening of Entertainment inspired by A Prairie Home Companion, but with a nautical twist
The show will come to life with live music performed by several diverse ensembles and bands and by anecdotes, memories, and images by the award-winning photographer, David Harp. Historic re-enactors from Annapolis, I Remember, will interpret oral histories fo the watermen and workmen on whose lives our unique history is based. A VIP reception, silent auction and live auction also will take place. This event will provide an uncommon perspective and a memorable tribute to our treasured Chesapeake Bay. Tickets will go on sale soon.
