The historic McNasby's Oyster Company building has been brought back to life as the “Bay Experience Center.” McNasby’s will provide Annapolis with a state-of-the-art waterfront educational facility, including classrooms, an exhibition gallery, and an assembly hall that can be used for classes, lectures, concerts, and community meetings. The Annapolis Maritime Museum is located at 723 Second Street in the Eastport neighborhood of Annapolis. The campus is at the Back Creek end of Second Street.
Parking
The Museum has very limited parking. Please park on the street, or, on the property of our generous supporters as follows:
At the Horn Point Marina, 105 Eastern Avenue
AFTER 5 p.m.
At Weems & Plath, 214 Eastern Avenue
AFTER 5 p.m.
Please do NOT park in the Eastport Yacht Center across the street from the Museum, at any time.
From Downtown Annapolis
Water Taxi
Take a delightful water taxi ride from City Dock to the
Museum (see watermarkcruises.com for rates

Walk
It’s a 20-minute stroll from Annapolis City Dock. Take
Compromise Street across the Spa Creek Bridge,
turn left
onto Severn Avenue, right onto Second Street and go all
the way to the end.

From Washington, D.C.
- Take Rt. 50 to Exit 22 / Aris T. Allen Blvd. / Rt. 665.
- Stay in left lane. Do not exit onto Riva Road. Continue straight.
- Rt. 665 expressway ends and becomes Forest Drive East.
- Continue on Forest Drive East, turn left onto Hilltop Lane.
- Turn left onto Bay Ridge Ave.
- Turn right onto Second Street.
- Continue to end to park on the end of the street.
Important parking instructions for Thomas Point Shoal Lighthouse visitors:
- For 9 a.m. trip: park at end of Second Street.
- For noon trip: park at Horn Point Harbor Marina. From Second Street, turn left onto Eastern Avenue, turn right into the marina parking lot, park in the lot between the building and the street. Follow the sidewalk back to Second Street, turn left, and continue one block to Museum.
- For 3 p.m. trip: park at end of Second Street.
From Baltimore
- I-97 South to Rt. 50 East.
- Exit immediately onto Exit 22 / Aris T. Allen Blvd. / Rt. 665.
- Stay in left lane. Do not exit onto Riva Road. Continue straight.
- Rt. 665 expressway ends and becomes Forest Drive East.
- Continue on Forest Drive East, turn left onto Hilltop Lane.
- Turn left onto Bay Ridge Ave.
- Turn right onto Second Street.

From Eastern Shore

By water
Follow the channel markers into Back Creek. McNasby's will be on your starboard side, between Horn Point Marina and the Eastport Yacht Center. At the present time our facilities for transient boat visits are limited.

The McNasby building boasts the exceptional historical significance as the last remaining oyster-packing plant in our region. Once a huge industry in Annapolis, seafood harvesting and shipping are just about obsolete, yet the images of workboats and the hard-working watermen and shuckers continue to be the basis of our region’s identity. There is no better way to experience this local maritime story than in the last surviving structure of a vanishing regional industry. The first major exhibit, “Oysters on the Half Shell,” provides that experience in a dramatic and captivating manner, incorporating hands-on, inter-active components.
Meanwhile, we’re also running “full steam ahead” with our day-to-day projects and programs, providing our maritime education and services to the community. In 2007 alone, we:
- Inaugurated four award-winning education programs for 8th graders and 4th graders as well as elementary after-school initiatives and “Treasure Our Water” in partnership with Watermark
- Launched public tours to the Thomas Point Shoal Lighthouse
- Organized the award-winning Capt. John Smith 400 Festival at City Dock
- Produced our sold-out Winter Maritime Heritage Seminar Series, and
- Hosted the popular Summertime Maritime Concert Series at the Museum and City Dock enjoyed by more than 2,000 visitors
