Here are a few of our available position:
We are looking for outgoing and dedicated individuals to guide and inspire visitors throughout the renovated McNasby's Oyster Company during operating hours Thursday-Sunday from 11am-3pm. All training and materials are provided.
As an education volunteer, lead and assist with a suite of hands-on, experiential educational programs for students ranging from Pre-K to 6th grade. Guide children through dynamic activities to encourage their curiosity about the world around them. Our volunteers are an integral part of the Education Center. Share your love of nature and maritime culture to help students form a connection with the Chesapeake Bay.
Activities Team Crew
As a volunteer on the Activities Team (formerly 'Programs Team') you can be a part of our regular events, such as the Summer Concert Series and the Winter Lecture Series, as well as other events throughout the year. It is here that you can meet community members coming to the museum to enjoy, learn and explore the many activities the museum has to offer.
Tides and Tunes Summer Concert Series: Catch a breeze by the Chesapeake Bay and listen to some great tunes while working alongside other dedicated volunteers during our Summertime Concert Series. Our Summertime Concert Series kicks off in June with an assortment of volunteer tasks and a wide variety of music every Thursday from 7-8:30 pm.
Winter Lecture Series: Every winter the Annapolis Maritime Museum hosts special guests ranging from historians to authors and storytellers for the Winter Lecture Series. The Museum is looking for volunteers to help with set up, break down and check-in while mingling with our special guests. The Winter Lecture Series is held on Thursday evenings from 7-8:30 pm from January into March.
Thomas Point Shoal Lighthouse (TPSL) Crew
Do you have a passion for maritime history or love of lighthouses? The crew leads guided weekend tours of the Thomas Point Shoal Lighthouse, a National Historic Landmark during the summer months. All training and boater safety information is provided.
The Museum is looking for individuals who know their way around an office. Daily tasks may include, data entry, filing, mailings and/or press releases during regular business hours from 9-5 pm.
If you are familiar with the Museum you probably know about our fabulous special events. From our Annual Annapolis Oyster Roast held in March to the always exciting Boatyard Beach Bash in September, our special events require a team of volunteers for both planning and execution as well.
Wooden Boat Crew
Have you ever wondered what the keel of a 1940's draketail workboat looks like? Our Wooden Boat Crew can be found every Saturday from 9 am-noon - painting, sanding and patching our Chesapeake Workboats. Whether you are an accomplished carpenter or someone who is interested in learning new skills, you are encouraged to join the crew as they work to bring historic and classic working boats back to life as displays at the Annapolis Maritime Museum.
Do you have a green thumb or just know your plants and flowers? If so, the Annapolis Maritime Museum's Garden Club is looking for you! Our grounds are used for various purposes ranging from weddings to educational programs and could use some regular sprucing. Bring your favorite gloves and shovels and get ready to beautify! Dates and times vary.
