The Annapolis Maritime Museum's Summer Camp engages campers with the ecology of the Chesapeake Bay and the maritime history of Annapolis. All camps will get wet and muddy while exploring Back Creek and Annapolis through hands-on nature activities, exciting games, crafts, and songs. The grades listed are for the Fall 2016 school year. For example, if your child is going into 1st grade in the Fall, they may attend both Chesapeake Critters and Animal Investigators.


Chesapeake Critters 

Kindergarten – 1st grade
July 5-8
$220 AMM Members; $252 Nonmembers

Oysters, blue crabs, and osprey are just the beginning in this animal filled camp. Discover the fascinating critters that make their home in the Chesapeake Bay. Hands-on exploration and live animal investigation will fill our days as we search for aquatic insects, crustaceans, fish, birds, and more!  Register Here

Animal Investigators

1st - 3rd grade
July 11-15
$275 AMM Members; $315 Nonmembers

Certain fish rely on camouflage  to stay hidden from predators, while others hide among oyster shells. In this camp, we will investigate the amazing adaptations used by animals in the Chesapeake Bay such as camouflage, migration, and hunting. Each day, campers will meet a different animal that exhibits one of these adaptations. Register Here 

Bay Explorers 

3rd-5th grade
July 25-29
$275 AMM Members; $315 Nonmembers

Did you know that Atlantic Sturgeon, Comb Jellies, and Sea Cucumbers all make their home in the Chesapeake Bay? Join us as we uncover the lesser-known, and sometimes mysterious, animals of the Bay. Investigations, experiments, crafts, and games will help us to unveil a new animal each day. Register Here

5th – 7th
August 1-5

Ever wonder how to use a compass, discover tiny animals through a microscope, or make your own fishing rod? This unique camp encourages campers to think like scientists and put their waterman skills to the test as they engage in STEM activities and explore the scientific and cultural aspects of the Bay. To practice their gained skills, campers will also explore Back Creek by canoe and take a special trip to downtown Annapolis. Register Here
