FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - July 1, 2010
Annapolis Maritime Museum seeks Volunteer Coordinator
The Annapolis Maritime Museum is looking for a Volunteer Coordinator through the Volunteer Maryland program. The Museum helps connect the richness of the maritime heritage of the Annapolis area with youth and adults. The Volunteer Maryland Coordinator will be responsible for recruiting and managing volunteers that will allow the Museum to inform students and adults about Annapolis’ maritime heritage and about their responsibility to be good stewards of the Chesapeake Bay watershed. Volunteers will serve as docents, lead education activities, and help staff lead cultural and educational seminars and other community outreach programs and events. The VMC will work with current volunteer leaders and staff to develop a more comprehensive volunteer system.
This is a one-year commitment as a member of AmeriCorps (the domestic Peace Corps). The service year begins September 15, and includes extensive training, a modest living allowance, and a post-service education award. For more information and an application, visit www.amaritime.org or email office@amaritime.org.
